cambridge

If you are a teacher of English or an aspiring teacher of English, the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) will interest you. Growing in international recognition, the TKT is not a teaching qualification but an assessment instrument from Cambridge English designed to test your knowledge about the teaching of English to speakers of other languages. It is the perfect way to begin (or refresh!) your teaching career. The TKT focuses on the core teaching knowledge needed by English teachers of primary, secondary or adult learners anywhere in the world.

TKT test modules can be taken together in one exam session or separately, in any order, in different exam sessions. Each test module lasts 80 minutes and consists of 80 multiple choice questions. Find out more about the modules at Cambridge English Teaching Knowledge Test.

Prepare for the TKT (Phoenix TESOL Certificate)

Candidates can prepare for the TKT test through individual reading and study or by completing a preparation course, the Phoenix TESOL Certificate. The course has been designed to introduce the theories and techniques for Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language and to give candidates practical “in class” experience and observation of expert teachers. During the three-week course, trainees observe expert teachers teaching real students. Trainees must deliver one 45-minute lesson and will receive written and oral feedback from their tutor. Classes run on Mon and Wed, 5:00pm - 9:00pm

The Phoenix TESOL Certificate, combined with the TKT online material and exam gives teaching candidates qualifications and the practical experience to enable them to confidently accept a position to teach English as a Second or Foreign Language in many countries.
